Job Description

Position:        Senior Project Controller

Organization

  • Function: Project Control, G&T Finance

Context

  • In this role, you will be part of the operation team in our business group G&T (Generation and Transmission) specializing in the execution of turn-key and supply-only contracts for Subsea and Land cable manufacturing and installation around the globe
  • Strengthen project and financial controls at local unit level
  • Member of the Finance (Project Controlling team) in G&T Business Group

 

Purpose

  • The Project Controller collaborates with the project, tender and the finance teams in G&T, including plant controllers and the central Finance team.
  • This position significantly contributes to maintaining the integrity and accuracy of Project Financials in accordance with Company policy.
  • Interacting with financial and non-financial internal customers to promote adherence to internal controls, and to provide guidance to maintain system and process integrity providing accurate project financial statements.
  • Conducts and communicates a comprehensive risk and financial impact analysis, including impacts on processes and tools ensuring decisions are taken accordingly
  • Responsible of financial aspects of specific contracts or specific tenders, within the respective tender/project teams, and the controlling department

 

Areas of responsibility

 

Responsible for all financial aspects within the respective project team and the controlling department, in close coordination with the Project Financial Controllers:

  • Maintains at all point in the project execution life the best/robust view at completion
  • Be the business partner of the Project Manager.
  • Be the main source of data to Project Financial Controllers (supports for example the phasing over calendar periods – respecting the financial reporting needs of Nexans).
  • Performs as part of the reporting the deviations’ analysis towards forecasts and budgets.
  • Takes part in all relevant activities to keep a good overview of the risks and opportunities, and their possible impacts on the project P&L.
  • Able, together with the Project Manager, to challenge the project team to get the most accurate picture of the project development.
  • Commercially oriented to seek for Opportunities and Variation Orders when applicable.
  • Able to structure in set up phase the projects under multi-unit environment (involving various entities within the company)
  • Follows-up various project related financial items such as tax, duties, bonds, commissions, indexation, hedging of metals and currencies.
  • Follows-up on production orders from the production factories, on marine & onshore installation activities (from Nexans own vessels and installation departments to subcontractors), and all other project activities (PMT, Engineering, Procurement, etc.).
  • Strives for opportunities on cash in acceleration
  • Comfortable working in SAP (establishing work breakdown structure, Sales Orders, etc.).
  • Reporting lines : hierarchically to Lead Project Controller and operationally to Project Manager.
  • Depending on seniority, the level of responsibility among the above will vary

Expected results

 

  • Validation of recognized project revenue in compliance with IFRS
  • Timely and Accurate reporting of project financials compared to forecasted margin
  • Have a correct overview of the project in terms of sales and gross margin, percentage of completion, contingency level and risk evolution
  • Grasp the main challenges of the projects, and the main risks on the tenders
  • Quality of budgets, forecasts and anticipation of possible deviations
  • Communicate, in time, any issues to his hierarchy
  • Communicate with the project teams and the different departments to know the status of the project
  • Deliver according to the strict monthly deadlines with agreed level of analysis
  • Apply internal procedures

 

 

Position sizing

  • Scope: Large scale EPCI projects or frame agreement with turnover 200-800 MEUR
  • Complexity: Standard or complex products/technology, extensive subcontracting, medium to high commercial challenge, large and/or several projects in portfolio
