Marine Installation Analysis Engineer

Nexans global vision is to electrify the future. This means designing, engineering, fabricating and installing the worlds’ best subsea cables. The marine installation department is looking for a marine installation analysis engineer to join our Laying & System Engineering group. The Marine Installation Engineering Department consists of more that 150 engineers in both Norway, France and US. We work with installation of subsea cables for Windfarm and interconnector projects worldwide.
How you make an impact:
The work typically consists of:

Hydrodynamic analysis and technical support related to the installation of subsea cables

Running analysis at all phases of a project - largest focus on detailed engineering
-
Work in multidiscipline project teams focusing on marine installation activities

Potential go offshore on the vessels to follow up the work

Working with project engineers to influence procedures and task plans for the marine operations through analysis
Your starting point when you join
We are looking for:
-
Degree in relevant engineering discipline (marine/offshore/ocean technology, naval architecture) or other engineering degree with relevant marine experience

2+ years of experience within hydrodynamics/marine operations

Knowledge and experience using OrcaFlex is an advantage
-
Programming skills (Python) for scripting and/or web apps is an advantage

Overview and understanding of applicable design codes, industry standards and legislative requirements

Strong analytical skills

Creative problem solving - able to suggest and develop new methods and ways of working

The ability to work in a team, as well as individually with minimum supervision

The ability to organize and prioritize own work

Understanding of clients’ needs and ability to suggest and apply “fit for purpose” solutions

Sound communication skills – able to communicate ideas and results to various stakeholders, both in written reports and in meetings, presentations etc.
