The Materials Engineering Department (MED) is responsible for ensuring that the materials used in Generation and Transmission business group (G&T) products have the right properties across the entire value chain: from suppliers, throughout production, during installation and finally in operation. To handle this responsibility, we are a team of 11 materials engineers with various field of expertise, located in Halden Norway.
MED has a vacant position as:
Materials Engineer, Polymers
Duties and responsibilities:
- Ensure that the department has relevant up-to-date technical competence within various polymeric materials.
- Ensure materials technology competence with regards to selection of sub-suppliers, process-ability and application.
- Specify and qualify materials for cables and accessories.
- Manage and participate in R&D projects
- Technical follow up of material suppliers
- Take part in trouble shooting and root cause analysis
- Participate in engineering processes with materials expertise
Desired skills and experience:
- MSc within materials technology, materials science and engineering, chemistry, polymer physics and/or polymer chemistry
- Able to work independently
- Good communication and presentation skills
- Ability to convert theory into practical solutions
- Experience in project and team work
- Interest in research and development
- Fluency both in written and spoken English and preferably also Scandinavian language
