About the Position:
The Marine Installation department has the main responsibility for all marine operations and engineering work related to the installation, transport, and protection of subsea cables in Nexans, both in Norway and worldwide. The marine installation engineering group is part of the Marine Installation department. The Marine engineering group is divided into three discipline areas: marine cable laying, Protection/Survey, and marine mechanical/design. The position as Specialist Engineer will be in the marine Protection/Survey discipline area.

Responsibilities & Tasks:
- Project Familiarization
- Cable Burial Risk Assessment
- Burial Assessment Study
- Managing and operating equipment such as CAPJET, Plough, etc.
- Procuring necessary equipment for projects.
- Developing and preparing procedures for various project phases.
- Coordinating and overseeing the mobilization of equipment and personnel.
- Providing support for offshore operations.
- Subcontracted Services Management:
- Defining the scope of work for subcontracted services (e.g., hard soil trenchers, subsea rock installation).
- Conducting technical evaluations of tenders.
- Following up with subcontractors during planning, offshore operations, and reporting.
- As-Built Documentation: Preparing and maintaining as-built documentation.
In the role, you will be responsible for:
- Having the responsibility for the technical solution for the marine protection SOW and being a technical resource during planning and executing the SOW. Assisting the Marine Lead Engineer to follow up on the schedule, cost, and resources for the main SOW.
- SOW: Performing contract review and getting an overview of the protection SOW, needed equipment, and milestones.
- Cost: Providing input on the protection part of the installation budget.
- Reviewing project MDR, schedule (focus on engineering, procurement, and installation), procurement plan, etc.
- Taking ownership of the protection engineering work in the project.
- Developing documents/drawings according to MDR.
- Ensuring that assessments of the protection requirements are performed, evaluated for feasibility, and aligned with contract/client requirements.
Your starting points:
- Engineer with relevant education, preferably a Bachelor's degree or higher in Geology, Geophysics or other relevant Geosciences fields,
- 5 -10 Years of Experience in engineering work related to offshore projects, cable installation, cable/pipe protection, trenching, dredging activities, or seabed intervention.
- Ability to solve complex problems and think outside the box.
- Fluent in English, both verbal and written. Proficiency in Norwegian is preferable.
- Ability to work in teams as well as independently.
- High sense of quality, cost, and time performance.
- Ability to work under pressure and on own initiative.
- Ability to adapt to change.
