Research and design machine and plant control systems and oversee their implementation

Purpose (Sum up the position using one or two sentences)

  • To oversee electrical projects for maintenance and the upgrading of existing facilities and equipment
  • Provides leadership and technical support for manufacturing operations
  • Key resource for machine electrical and control systems with and without PLCs and PCs

Areas of responsibility (Use active verbs to define areas of responsibility and especially the weight of each responsibility : “Manage”, “Support”, “Participate”; “Is responsible for”, “Is in charge of”, “Promote”, “Contribute” etc.)

  • Define, scope, schedule, develop, and coordinate electrical and control systems projects of varying sizes and importance from conception through completion
  • Manage Project budgets and schedule to ensure cost and deadlines are met
  • Support all electrical projects
  • Responsible for project costing of electrical systems
  • Support electricians and E&I’s in trouble shooting of plant electrical systems
  • Maintain facility electrical systems
  • Evaluate electrical systems, products, components, and applications
  • Mitigate obsolescence equipment electrical controls
  • Implement error proofing solutions that are integrated into the manufacturing process control system
  • Participate in new equipment design and build reviews to ensure that the electrical control systems meet Nexans AmerCable’ s specifications
  • Support electrical testing equipment including high voltage (>100KV) withstand, resistance, and capacitance testing
  • Adhere to all Nexans AmerCable’ s Safety Standards and Safe Work Practices
  • Follow and abides by Nexans Code of Ethics and Business Conduct Standards

Expected results (What is the expected contribution of the position? What are the main objectives and expected results linked to objectives?)

  • Ensure plant equipment is operating and optimized
  • Ensure equipment control systems meet all applicable safety standards
  • Produce CAD drawings of new and modified electrical systems
  • Involved with the identification of PM tasks as described by Nexans Excellence Way in Maintenance
  • Process monitoring and control systems including all levels of automation ranging from discrete monitoring to full line automation
  • Maintain facility electrical power distribution system and all related drawings

  • N-1=12
  • Project budget = up to 250KUSD

 

  • Required skills and qualifications (Management and function competencies regarding available Nexans models, personal attributes, education, experience)
  • 5+ years of programming experience using the following Rockwell Automation products: 

   • ControlLogix • CompactLogix • MicroLogix • RS Logix 5000

  • Demonstrated experience with AC/DC motors and drives specifically PowerFlex 700 series drives
  • Ability to develop the PLC logic and HMI screens for an integrated HMI/PLC system
  • Siemens experience a plus
  • Ability to create/modify drawings with 2D CAD (AutoCAD)
  • Read, create and maintain single line diagrams and electrical control schematics
  • 5+ years experience in Maintenance and Manufacturing
  • Minimum 5 years supervisory experience
  • Strong interpersonal & negotiation skills
  • Strong organizational / time management skills, with a high degree of self-motivation & ability to work independently
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products
  • Demonstrated experience in the application of advanced P&ID control schemes / methodologies
  • AS/AAS degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.  BS in Electrical Engineering/Electrical Engineering Technology a plus
