Job Overview:

 

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Machinist to join our team. As a Machinist, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining manual machines to produce precision parts according to engineering drawings and specifications. The ideal candidate should possess strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work with a variety of materials and machine tools. This role will involve machining parts necessary for machine repair and production tooling, contributing directly to the efficiency and functionality of our manufacturing processes.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Machine Setup: Properly set up manual machines such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drill presses for machining operations.

 

Operation: Operate manual machines to perform machining tasks including turning, milling, drilling, boring, and grinding to produce parts to required specifications.

 

Tool Selection: Select appropriate cutting tools, inserts, and fixtures for each machining operation.

 

Quality Control: Inspect machined parts using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and other precision measurement tools to ensure accuracy and adherence to specifications.

 

Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on machines to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Troubleshoot and resolve machine malfunctions or issues as they arise.

 

Safety: Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures while operating machines and handling materials. Maintain a clean and organized work area to prevent accidents and injuries.

 

Documentation: Maintain accurate records of machining operations, including setup sheets, inspection reports, and production logs.

 

Collaboration: Collaborate with engineering and production teams to identify and implement process improvements and efficiency enhancements.

 

 

Requirements:

 

Experience: Proven experience as a Machinist or similar role, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in manual machining operations.

 

Technical Skills: Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and blueprints. Strong knowledge of machining techniques, tooling, and materials.

 

Precision: Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain tight tolerances in machining operations.

 

Mechanical Aptitude: Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve machine issues independently.

 

Safety Consciousness: Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to safety regulations and procedures.

 

Physical Stamina: Ability to lift and move heavy materials and workpieces as required. Comfortable standing for extended periods and performing repetitive tasks.

 

Team Player: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across different departments.

 

Education and Certification:

 

High school diploma or equivalent.

Completion of a formal apprenticeship program or vocational training in machining is preferred.

Certification in manual machining or related field is a plus.

 

Working Conditions:

 

The role of a Manual Machinist typically involves working in a manufacturing or production environment. This may include exposure to loud noise, dust, and chemicals. Personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided, and adherence to safety protocols is essential.
