In this role you will be part of the maintenance-team in our business group, Subsea and Land Systems, specialized on execution of the turn-key and supply-only contracts for the Subsea and Land cable manufacturing and installation around the globe.

 

 

The maintenance department carries out major and minor maintenance projects as well as ongoing preventive and corrective maintenance at the factory. This applies to both production machines, buildings and other infrastructure. During implementation, high attention is required on safe implementation, technical facilitation and ongoing assessment of risk. 

 

Areas of responsibility

▪ Observes functioning of installed equipment to detect hazards, problems, and the need for service, repair and/or replacement of electrical, electronic and mechanical components.

▪ Discusses equipment performance issues and improvement ideas with pertinent technical staff.

▪ Maintains a high level of work ethics and safety, in all aspects of electrical and mechanical work that is being completed.

▪ Repairs, maintains, and installs electrical systems and equipment such as, but not limited to, motors, drives, wiring and associated devices.

▪ Repairs, maintains, and installs mechanical systems and equipment such as, but not limited to, pumps, gearboxes, piping and associated systems

. ▪ Locates and determines electrical malfunctions using test instruments such as ammeter, multi-meter, and temperature probe 

▪ Must be able to identify and specify parts required for repair and/or rebuilding of manufacturing equipment.

▪ Participates in new installations and modifications to existing equipment to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous and unreliable performance of equipment.

▪ Prepares sketches proposing layout/location modifications and installations, all of which are in compliance with OEM, OSHA, NEC, company, and local codes where applicable

▪ Documented ability to weld using a tig, mig, stick type welder on applicable materials such as steel, aluminum, stainless steel, pipe and structural type is a plus.

▪ Able to fabricate fixtures, stands, covers, and assemblies from provided drawings.

▪ Employee is required to keep work area neat, clean, and free from hazards.

▪ Must be able to obtain forklift and aerial lift platform licenses.

▪ Must be able and willing to assume other responsibilities, within reason and with proper instruction, deemed necessary to meet optimum labor utilization.

 

Requested Competencies and Qualification

▪ Must be able to read, write, and comprehend the English language (i.e., the language of all plant directives) for required document control, equipment operation, and supervisor/peer instructions.

▪ Minimum of five (5) years' experience in industrial electro/mechanical maintenance.

▪ Completion of an accredited apprenticeship or degree in the electrical or mechanical fields.

▪ Must have the ability to use and understand advanced mathematics, handbook formulas, NEC codebook, and other sources of technical information.

▪ Must be capable of interfacing with other departments/personnel for the purpose of developing and/or supplying information to ascertain and achieve processing requirements.

▪ Good understanding of Preventive Maintenance programs

▪ Documented ability to weld using tig, mig, and stick welder on applicable materials such as steel, aluminum, stainless steel, pipe and structural type is a plus.

▪ Ability to machine/repair parts using a milling machine, lathe, surface grinder, drill press, etc.

▪ Able to fabricate fixtures, stands, covers, and assemblies from provided drawings.

▪ Working knowledge of Parker, Allen Bradley, and Siemens AC variable frequency drives, PLCs and associated protocols is a plus

▪ Must have computer skills, including the capability to use email, compile reports and spreadsheets for parts and project tracking.

▪ Must be able to read and identify components depicted on electrical and electronic prints.

▪ Must have a complete set of hand and measuring tools to perform the job function.

▪ Employee is responsible for their own work, and must exercise care and compliance of all established safety procedures.

▪ Must be able to work other shifts and overtime to complete work as needed.

▪ Employee must be willing to be on call to support production needs.

▪ Employee must demonstrate completion of courses in Welding, Basic Electronics or Electrical classes, PLC training, or other company accepted educational programs if prior maintenance mechanic "hands-on" experience is not established. Employee should be willing to enhance their development through company approved education programs when required or needed.

 

Physical Requirements

▪ Ability to lift up to 50lbs, use hoist or assistance for weight above 50lbs

▪ Ability to walk long distances, climb stairs, ladders, bend, squat, crawl, kneel and stand for long periods of time

▪ Ability to work in extreme weather conditions such as hot, cold, rain and humidity

▪ Must be able to work on aerial lift platforms up to 80 feet on a limited basis, 30 feet on average
