In this role you will be part of the warehouse team in our business group, Subsea and Land Systems, specialized on execution of the turn-key and supply-only contracts for the Subsea and Land cable manufacturing and installation around the globe.

 

PURPOSE:

  • Maintains accuracy and records of all shipments, incoming and outgoing
  • Support production lines with raw materials that meet Nexans quality standards

 

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

 

Receiving
o    Unload and inspect incoming raw materials & indirect (RMO) supplies, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages
o    Compares identifying information, counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other record are accurate.
o    Log received material/products into appropriate System (SAP or ARIBA)
o    Routes incoming shipments to inventory storage or recipient. 
o    Executes the vendor returns process.
o    Works in collaboration with Finance team to address receiving/invoicing discrepancies.
o    Collect raw material samples for quality approval.
Shipping
o    Determines method of shipment for all small package and palletized freight. (Fed-Ex, freight carrier)
o    Schedule freight pickup with carrier and Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications. (Wrap, palletize, and crate product). 
o    Create shipping labels and or bill of lading for freight shipments. 
o    Load miscellaneous freight onto freight trucks for shipping
o    Loads empty and full cable reels from and onto trucks using lift trucks outdoors or overhead crane indoors.
o    Stamps, stencils, or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers. 
o    Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage
o    Proper packaging of all shipments
Inventory management
o    Responsible to conduct scheduled and adhoc cycle count activity
o    Identifies and supports resolution of inventory differences
o    Strong understanding of FIFO (first in first out)
o    Monitor aging stock 
Waste Stream/Recycling
o    Dumping of trash and recycling hoppers in the proper dumpsters and compactors 
o    Scheduling dumpster and compactor pickups/swaps 
o    Weighing and recording scrap weights of recycled cable materials
Material Handling & Line-side Presentation
o    Cleaning and prep of raw materials for storage in warehouse as well as at the production lines
o    Confirming label accuracy of raw materials

General
o    Operates various material handling equipment (lift trucks, pallet jack, cart, hand truck, etc.) to move materials from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.
o    Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies. 
o    Keeps loading docks clear and open for incoming & outgoing shipments.
o    Provide coverage for Warehouse Supervisor during absence.
o    Completes shipping and receiving reports as necessary.
o    Promote, Support & implement continuous improvement activities within Supply Chain and Production to reduce bottlenecks and manufacturing throughput time.
o    Complies with plant safety procedures to ensure a safe environment

Required skills and qualifications 

    3-5 years experience in warehousing in a manufacturing setting
    High school diploma or equivalent
    Forklift experience required, willingness to learn additional equipment, will train on specific equipment.
    Must be able to handle physical heavy lifting up to 50 pounds
    Position requires standing/walking 50%, operating material handing equipment 30%, & sitting at desk 20%
    Ability to work individually as well as on a team
    Must be able to clearly and concisely communicate with employees of the organization 
    Must be organized, able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment 
    Must be able to work overtime (weekends, nights and holidays) as needed 
    Good computer systems knowledge including Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
    Basic carpentry skills (tape measure, saws, nail gun, various hand tools)
    Strong quality mindset

Desired skills and qualifications
    Strong experience in SAP MM, SD & LE modules (preferably ECC6 release).
    Ability to operate 45,000 Lb capacity forklift
    RCRA hazardous waste certified
