WELCOMING YOU TO THE TEAM
The Extrusion Process Project Leader acts as a Subject Matter Expert in extrusion processes. You are the key partner of the R&D and process teams in plants to develop and deploy the most competitive extrusion processes.
You are the guardian of the rules: you formalize the know-how and design rules related to the extrusion technologies (tooling, machines specifications, process conditions, best practices) and identify the best partners/suppliers in this field.
You also spread the knowledge through training programs in plants and are one the go to persons in the field to solve extrusion issues.
GETTING A FLYING START
In close collaboration with the Product Development team, the Extrusion Project Leader defines the best process conditions needed to deliver the expected product.
Areas of responsibilities:
New product development/RTC/RTM:
- Develop through simulations adapted toolings such as tip/die/screws/barrels/crosshead, define the best extrusion process conditions.
- Develop and carry out in partnership with the teams involved detailed extrusion trials program either in Lyon using local extrusion pilot lines or in plants.
- Consolidate the testing conditions and learnings through detailed reports.
- Contribute to the manufacturing of cable prototypes in the context of POC/MVP.
Process standardization/scale-up and industrial phase:
- Establish equipment and process “standards” that have to be applied in plants when deploying the technology.
- Participate to the product development scale-up and industrialization phase in the plants to fine tune the process conditions for the whole cable range.
Industrial investment processes/extrusion line audits:
- Is in charge with the plant involved to define the detailed requirements specific to extrusion equipment, this includes attendance to commissioning phases, specific tests.
- Participate to audits to assess existing extrusion lines in plants to define possible improvement action plans/identification of risks
HOW YOU MAKE AN IMPACT
- Aptitude for mastering the technical aspects of manufacturing and the production apparatus
- Aptitude for project management
- Knowledge in cable industry, extrusion tooling or machine design, simulations is a plus
YOUR STARTING POINTS WHEN YOU JOIN
- Engineering degree/PhD in material science/polymers or relevant industrial experience (cable industry, extrusion equipment supplier)
- Knowledge in polymer science and/or extrusion processes
- Knowledge in finite element analysis, simulation tools (Compuplast, Solidworks)
- Fluency in French-English
