STSC is growing—and we’re looking for a talented and driven Lead Engineer to strengthen our Telecom and Operations team.

As a Lead Engineer, you will have the technical responsibility for submarine optical fibre products throughout the execution phase of various projects. You’ll also bring deep technical expertise to support and evolve our submarine optical fibre cable product portfolio.

About the Team

The Telecom and Operations department consists of 21 highly skilled professionals, including Lead Engineers and technicians. Together, they are responsible for the technical design, development, and delivery of submarine optical fibre systems. Their work encompasses system implementation, integration, commissioning tests, and maintenance.

Operating in an interdisciplinary environment, the team covers a broad range of technical expertise across multiple product areas, ensuring seamless execution from concept to operation.

These product areas include:

Submarine optical fibre cables and elements
Submarine power cables
Umbilicals
Sensor systems
Related accessories and specialized equipment

Your Role as Lead Engineer

We’re looking for someone with a solid technical background and the leadership skills to lead engineering teams through complex project execution. You’ll play a key role in ensuring our products meet customer requirements and expectations.

In this role, you will:

Hold overall technical responsibility within optical fibre systems in delivery projects
Lead technical teams and facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration
Ensure timely and accurate delivery of technical documentation
Define purchase specifications and oversee complex procurement processes
Prepare and maintain material specifications
Drive technical improvements and innovation across the product portfolio
Lead and implement R&D programs
Develop and review product drawings and specifications
Contribute to tenders with technical input and cost estimates
Support land and offshore operations during project phases

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who have:

A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline
Experience with project execution and strong leadership skills
A background in optical fibre systems (preferred, but not required)
Strong written and verbal communication skills in both Norwegian and English
A structured and collaborative work style
The ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment
An innovative mindset with strong analytical capabilities
