About the Role

Welcome to Submarine Telecom and Special Cables (STSC) and the Submarine Fibre Solution team (SFS). STSC is growing, and is therefore looking for 3 new Lead Engineers to bolster the SFS team.

The Lead Engineers in SFS have the technical responsibility for all submarine fibre optic products to be delivered during project execution. In addition, these engineers will also have the in depth technical expertise related to the submarine fibre optic product portfolio.

The SFS department currently consists of 5 skilled employees, who, together with STSC, have the technical responsibility for Nexans' submarine optical fibre cable portfolio. 

The SFS department works together in an interdisciplinary environment covering all levels of technical expertise for the various product areas, including: submarine fibre optic cables, fibre optic elements, submarine power cables, umbilicals, sensor systems, ROV cables and related equipment and accessories.

As a Lead Engineer in SFS, you should have a solid technical background with a skill set to lead a team of engineers during project execution ensuring products are delivered according to customer requirements and specifications. 

 

You will also be assigned responsibility to design new products, run R&D programs, perform simulations and analysis, supervise onshore or offshore operations, follow up sub suppliers and assist in tender work. With your creativity, competence and ability to think outside the box, you will be a great resource for delivering our future cables, cable systems and technologies.

 

Responsibilities

  • Overall technical responsibility in delivery projects.
  • Lead the technical team in projects and take charge in interdisciplinary work.
  • Ensure that technical documentation is delivered according to project requirements and schedule.
  • Establish purchase specifications and follow up complex purchases.
  • Prepare material specifications.
  • Ensure and lead the development of technical improvements of the product portfolio.
    • Establish, implement and take leadership of R&D programs.
    • Participate in the preparation of product drawings and specifications.
    • Actively seek improvements and further development of the product portfolio.
  • Provide support to the marketing department for preparation of tender documents and cost overviews.
  • Participate in land and offshore operations during project execution.

 

Background and qualifications

  • Master or Bachelor degree within relevant engineering disciplines.
  • Experience and good leadership skills within project execution is an advantage.
  • Background in fibre optic systems is beneficial.
  • Good written and oral presentation skills in both Norwegian and English.
  • Ability to work systematically and collaborate across different disciplines.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to work in teams and independently.
  • Innovative and analytic.
