Technical Manager

NIS Technical Manager has the overall responsibility of ensuring that all below listed areas are covered. The Technical Manager also serves as a support function to all other functions at NIS within the area of responsibility.

The Technical Manager in cooperation with local EDD and QHSE Managers/personnel determine and communicate a unified Management System for all local sites where both Nexans Group and local requirements are taken into consideration. All of the above compliant with Nexans corporate guidelines and best practice is mirrored.

 

Areas of responsibility

Safety Management

  • Responsible for ISO45001 implementation and hence organizational/system development to comply with standards in close collaboration with NIS plant management
  • Lead role for ISO45001 NIS auditing
  • Responsible for HS KPI reporting and reporting process
  • Responsible for transfer HS Nexans knowledge; safety events, tools and templates to local contributors
  • Promote collaboration with Nexans Group HS and contribute to best practices within NIS; e.g. safety roadmap
  • Lead and aspire to a Health and Safety culture across NIS

 

Quality and Environment Management

 

  • Responsible for compliance with customers, Nexans Group and NIS requirements within the scope of ISO9001, ISO14001 and Regulatory Requirements (e.g. REACh and SCIP)
  • Responsible for establishing, implementing, maintaining and continuously improve NIS QE management system
  • Responsible for QE KPI reporting
  • Responsible for analyzing and reporting QE data, evaluate risks & opportunities and suggest improvements to management
  • Responsible for planning, executing and reporting internal audits
  • Responsible for 3rd party and customer audits
  • Responsible for supplier audits and qualification
  • Support function in development and implementation of function specific systems and tools

 

  Engineering/Technical/R&D

  • Manage the engineering service resources
  • Provide optimal engineering services to OEMs
  • Responsible for the qualification of new products
  • Support collaboration between engineering team and marketing teams to fulfil customer needs
  • Support production in process improvement. Design/improve processes to support market and customer needs
  • Wind standard implementation on sites
  • Responsible for APQP4Wind implementation – auditing and Project Management

 

 

Continuous Improvement Management

  • Responsible for transfer Nexans Excellence Way; tools and templates to local contributors
  • Support management team to optimize administrative and operations processes and implement continuous improvement efforts using Lean methodologies
  • Support management team with job content / changes to match with processes
  • Support facilitation and coordination of workshops for identifying, analyzing and removing bottlenecks in work processes
  • Drive employee involvement in improvement processes to create a strong engagement in the plants
  • Initiate, support and/or manage operational improvement projects

Position sizing

  • The position has direct reports

  • The position has transversal influence in the NIS organization, and can lead ad hoc project team when necessary

Required skills and qualifications

  • +5 years leadership and management skills; demonstrated skills as manager, team builder, coach or mentor with focus on QHSE / Lean/ Manufacturing
  • ISO9001, 14001, and 45001 standard knowledge and auditing experience
  • Establishing, implementing, maintaining and continuously improve management systems
  • Analysing and reporting QE data, evaluate risks & opportunities and suggest improvements
  • Lead auditing (Planning, executing and reporting internal and external audits)
  • Experience within environment- and safety risk management, safety walks
  • Understanding and hands-on practice of Lean Principles and techniques
  • Demonstrated experience in leading Lean manufacturing initiatives and applying tools; e.g. Visual Management, 5S, VSM, Problem solving.
  • Experience in validate improvement initiatives; identify, quantify performance parameters and ability to identify and quantify industrial performance improvement opportunities. Create business case to support improvements
  • Ability to transfer knowledge to different levels of the organization through training, coaching and demonstrating the principles and behaviors
  • Ability to build positive relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in multiple media – verbal, written, etc. in an international environment
  • Project management and program deployment monitoring skills
  • Fluent in English
