Job Description – Onshore Senior Tender Manager – Power Transmission

Context
PWR-T operates in a market where competition has increased and is expected to further intensify in the coming years. Our success in securing new contracts will depend on our ability to provide offers that are attractive to customers while maximizing profit for the PWR-T Business Line.
Purpose
The Tender Manager, through close management and coordination of a multifunctional team, submits bids on time to customers, with pricing and technical specifications that align both with Nexans’ and the customer’s expectations.
He ensures that all costs and risks are properly considered in the offer. He liaises with the Sales Manager regarding the best solution and pricing strategy to apply and takes part in tender negotiations with the Sales Manager.
Areas of Responsibility
- Ensure the Tender team is aware of critical success factors based on input and discussions with the Sales Manager, which form the core of the Tender strategy.
- Manage the tender preparation process, ensuring each tender complies with Nexans procedures and that costs and risks are properly assessed.
- Be comfortable with and understand the technical solutions and cost inputs, cable design, and installation method descriptions proposed by the tender team and external stakeholders (civil works contractors, sub-suppliers).
- Challenge inputs from contributors to propose the most competitive solutions that meet customer requirements.
- Ensure, with legal and technical departments, that qualifications of terms and conditions are adequate.
- Attend ITR (Internal Tender Review) and TRC (Tender Review Committee) meetings with the Sales Manager.
- Ensure offers submitted to the customer are within the mandate given by TRC.
- Take part in customer negotiations, playing a constructive role to secure profitable orders.
- Ensure feedback from project execution is properly considered in cost and risk assessments for new tenders.
- Provide input to sales and marketing strategy.
- Deliver tender files on time, in accordance with Nexans procedures and expected quality standards.
- Continuously improve the tender process based on experience from tenders and project execution.
Expected Results
- Ensure that the offered cable and components meet client requests/contracts and Nexans standards and experience.
- Contribute to implementing competitive sales solutions.
- Actively contribute to achieving the sales budget.
Position Sizing
- Tenders may reach several tens of millions of euros, either as supply-only or turnkey projects.
- Management of a tender process may involve up to 10 individuals from various departments.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- At least 5 years of relevant tendering experience and a minimum of a B.S. degree.
- Technical education is preferable, though other relevant education and experience may be considered.
- Experience in sales and marketing, technical, and legal domains.
- General experience in systematic document handling and planning.
- Ability to work systematically and cooperate across a multidisciplinary organization, beyond the sales and marketing group.
- Ability to find solutions suited to Nexans’ capabilities and limitations.
- Preferable knowledge of project sales.
- Preferable experience in negotiating and contracting large and complex contracts and projects.
- General IS competence (office programs).
- Fluent in English, both verbal and written; additional language skills are a plus.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong networking ability.
- Responsible, culturally aware, innovative, team-oriented, and independent.
- High sense of quality and timeliness.
- Ability to work under pressure and take initiative.
- Willingness to travel.
- Adaptability to change.
