You’ll benefit from international mobility, strong development programs, and a culture that values inclusion, innovation, and wellbeing. Join us to electrify the future!

WELCOMING YOU TO THE TEAM

You will join our Technical Department within Power Transmission, which has responsibility for ensuring the successful execution of technical activities related to the design, specification, modelling, analysis and testing of cable systems.

As a Lead Engineer, you will lead engineering activities related to tenders, deliveries, customer support and complaints within STSC. You will work closely with Project Managers, Department Managers, tender teams, manufacturing plants and other operational and supporting functions across Nexans.

The role is based in Oslo, Norway, and offers a highly collaborative working environment with interaction across Nexans’ international organisation. You will report to the relevant Department Manager or, when applicable, to the assigned Project Manager.

HOW YOU MAKE AN IMPACT

As Lead Engineer, you will take technical ownership of engineering activities for deliveries and projects within your assigned product responsibility. You will ensure that engineering is delivered on time, within budget and to the required quality, specifications and contractual requirements.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and coordinate engineering activities for projects and deliveries.

  • Support tender teams with technical requirements, solutions and risk evaluations.

  • Ensure engineering and Scope of Work (SOW) are delivered in accordance with contracts and internal guidelines.

  • Ensure that engineering activities are carried out in accordance with the STEL Project Execution Model.

  • Coordinate internal and external interfaces within your area of responsibility.

  • Follow up engineering budgets, costs, progress and schedules.

  • Identify, evaluate and manage technical risks and opportunities.

  • Facilitate engineering status meetings and report progress to the Department Manager or Project Manager.

  • Ensure effective use of engineering resources throughout tenders, projects and deliveries.

  • Collaborate closely with manufacturing plants, operational units, customers and other stakeholders.

  • Contribute to the development and improvement of engineering processes, systems and ways of working.

  • Support competence development, training and knowledge sharing across the Business Group.

  • Contribute to keeping Nexans technology and engineering practices aligned with industry standards and best practices.

Success in this role means delivering professional engineering services that meet project and contract requirements, making effective use of resources, continuously improving processes and contributing to high-quality technical solutions.

You boost your impact by actively promoting Quality and HSE.

We know that the best candidates don’t always match every requirement listed, but here are some examples of the background and experience that can help you thrive in the role:

  • BSc, MSc or equivalent university degree in engineering or a related technical discipline.

  • Experience as a Project Engineer or in a similar engineering role.

  • Experience working with multidisciplinary engineering activities and complex projects.

  • Good general knowledge of project engineering systems, tools and processes.

  • Experience coordinating or leading engineering activities is an advantage.

  • An interest in managing and leading highly competent technical teams and individuals.

  • Strong communication, collaboration and stakeholder management skills.

  • A proactive, determined and accountable approach, with the ability to take ownership and drive activities forward.

  • Customer and market focus, combined with a global mindset.

  • Fluent in English, both oral and written.

  • Your personal values are aligned to those of Nexans: Pioneer, Dedicated, United.

Experience from the cable industry, energy, offshore/onshore projects, manufacturing or other complex engineering environments is considered an advantage.
