To support this ambition, Nexans is strengthening its Business Development organization and reinforcing its global key account coverage.

The role reports hierarchically to the Group CFO

The Finance Director for PWR G&C Business Development (BD) & Projects belongs to the Business Development and large projects organisation at group level,

This is a strategic finance leadership role embedded in the commercial organization at Group level, acting as:

  • A business partner to Sales and Marketing leaders

  • The owner of commercial performance transparency
  • The controller of BD growth patterns vs. Capital Market Day commitments (2024–2028

The ABU finance Director belongs to the Finance Organization

  • He/she  reports functionally to the Group CFO
  • He is responsible for the finance function in the regions (hierarchical reporting)
  • He is member of the management team, and collaborates transversally with other Management team members and functions

Purpose of the position

To ensure that the Group delivers the sustainable growth BD trajectory committed at the Capital Market Day (Nov 2024) by:

  • Tracking performance against the 2028 roadmap
  • Monitoring growth quality (margin, mix, client quality, channel efficiency)
  • Ensuring regional and product BD growth patterns (Data Center, Solar, and other Large projects) are aligned with strategic intent
  • Driving corrective actions when deviations occur

Unlike a traditional FP&A role, this position is commercially driven, forward-looking, and growth-oriented rather than purely accounting-based.

This requires:

  • Robust profitability analytics
  • Allocation model governance
  • Consistent costing methodology

Currently, for each call for tenders, we rebuild everything, which makes it too time-consuming to respond. Currently, competitors design offers in less than few days and budgetary offers in 4 hours. We don't know how to do this type of project at Nexans today (except for accessories).

Areas of responsibility

Responsibility to structure a repeatable offer

  • Together with tendering, build Data center pricing tool. Currently, we don't have a catalog of which cables are relevant/qualified nor the tool to price them. We need to build common building blocks, and in terms of modeling, these blocks are articulated according to the tender. We need pre-filled files to be able to select the blocks.
  • One of the main aspect of the role is building a pricing tool that will allow us to accelerate quotations. Such a tool does not exist internally today.
  • A prerequisite will be to map the financial flows for various GTMs and internal flows (interco), e.g. for example, whether the PO is to be placed by entity A in country of destination or country of producing entity.

Responsibility to support multi-source tenders (before and during TRC)

  • Structure financials for multi-source tenders hand-in-hand with tendering
  • Review all necessary financial data and risks, e.g. cash flow, interco, etc.
  • Support the team in negotiations with the customer if required.

Support in deploying proactive approach in managing data center demand

  • Deploy S&OP process hand-in-hand with relevant internal stakeholder
  • Make sure CRM responds to the needs of S&OP

Monitoring of major projects (pipeline, orders, and sales/GM) to be able to communicate with the markets when necessary

Position challenges

  • Product catalog
  • Business model (not yet developed)
  • Modeling section for a commercially and financially validated product/service
  • Deployment support
  • Once projects are entered, financial monitoring of projects must be managed top down
  • Support from operational staff
  • Need to monitor project execution and ensure that change orders are executed correctly.
  • For a bid, each country will do its part, and the financial aspect needs to be consolidated at group level view

Governance to implement

  • Sales pricing / costing according to go-to-market strategies
  • Take into account that each country has its own specific constraints
  • S&OP process for Data Centers
  • Monitoring Interco/Consolidated P&L and Sales Bonus projects
