WELCOMING YOU TO THE TEAM
You will join the Installation Tender Engineering team within PWR – Transmission, based in Oslo, Norway. The team plays a critical role in developing installation and cable protection solutions for complex, large-scale tenders worldwide.
As a Specialist Engineer – Installation Tender Engineering, you will work closely with tender managers, engineering disciplines, purchasing, installation experts, and project organizations across Nexans. The role reports to the Manager Installation Tender Engineering and operates in a highly collaborative, international environment with significant technical influence and autonomy.
HOW YOU MAKE AN IMPACT
As Specialist Engineer – Installation Tender Engineering, you are a key technical authority in the tender phase, responsible for developing competitive, safe, and technically sound installation and protection solutions for turnkey cable supply projects.
Your main responsibilities include:
Tender-specific responsibilities:
- Study client specifications, technical requirements, and schedules to define installation and protection scopes of work
- Develop technical solutions for cable installation and protection, aligned with Nexans standards and best practices
- Prepare installation schedules and cost estimates for tenders
- Prepare subcontractor inquiries and quotations in close cooperation with Purchasing
- Evaluate subcontractor offers and manage technical follow-up
- Perform cost calculations and risk evaluations related to installation and protection scopes
- Participate in site visits, tender meetings, and technical/commercial negotiations
- Manage technical communication towards the client during the tender phase
- Ensure structured handover of tender deliverables to the Project organization
Department and company contributions:
- Contribute to quality assurance of tender deliverables, including participation in DIC / IDC reviews
- Promote knowledge sharing and best practices within the department
- Actively train and mentor engineers, ensuring a consistent and high-quality tender approach
- Develop and improve departmental tools, checklists, and document templates
- Participate in research and development activities, investment projects, and development of new technologies
- Adhere to company policies and procedures and actively contribute to continuous improvement

YOUR STARTING POINT
We know that the best candidates don’t always meet every requirement, but the following background will help you succeed in the role:
- Engineering degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) or equivalent experience
- Typically 10+ years of relevant engineering experience, preferably within installation, offshore, subsea, or power transmission projects
- Deep technical competence and system-level understanding within own discipline
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across disciplines
- Ability to work independently and take full ownership of complex tasks
- Proven capability and motivation to train and mentor others on advanced tools and methods
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to identify and lead high-impact improvements
- Ability to adapt to change and perform under pressure
- High focus on quality, safety, and on-time delivery
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken
