Context and Organization

 

Nexans is accelerating its growth across strategic markets, driven by electrification, energy transition, and increasing demand for complex, multi-country infrastructure solutions. To support this ambition, Nexans is strengthening its Business Development organization and reinforcing its global key account coverage.

 

This role reports hierarchically to VP Commercial Finance and APAC / MEA regions

 

As Commercial Finance Lead for Grid & Connect, he/she will hold functional ownership of the Commercial Dashboard and produce the analyses required to steer commercial performance across revenue, margin, pricing, customer mix, product mix and key commercial initiatives.

  • Establish and define the reporting needed to monitor by Region/Client/Products
  • Develop the financial structure to monitor the Growth Patterns, Advanced Offers and Verticals defined in the Capital Market Days in November 2024
  • Support Global Offer Leaders with analysis to drive and deliver the profitable growth

Purpose of the position

 

  • Transform financial (not only reporting) and commercial data into reliable management insights and actionable recommendations, while strengthening VP Finance’s ability to focus on strategic priorities.
  • Overall financial to drive to growth (mainly sales, CM, backlog) with the granularity of the CMD components
  • Identifies gaps versus budget, and assesses risks & opportunities; mitigates risks
  • Ensure the development of the tools (Commercial Dashboard) and its consistency and reliability (data quality)
  • Provide the key commercial components for Platinum management & engagement

Areas of responsibility

 

Commercial Dashboard ownership

  • Act as functional owner of the Grid & Connect Commercial Dashboard.
  • Contribute to the prioritization of dashboard evolutions, validation of business rules and structuring of the functional roadmap
  • Define, document and maintain KPI definitions and calculation logic across dashboard pages.
  • Challenge and validate BI deliverables before release, including indicator consistency, calculation accuracy and business relevance
  • Coordinate with Data / BI and IT teams to improve data quality, reliability and usability

 

Commercial performance analysis

  • Produce ad hoc analyses to support commercial performance steering, including revenue dynamics, margin, pricing, volume effects, customer mix and product mix
  • Track and analyse key commercial initiatives such as Advanced Offers, Growth Patterns, Platinum Customers, Final Destination Country and new products
  • Translate dashboard data into actionable recommendations for Finance, Sales and Business teams
  • Lead the preparation of the monthly Grid & Connect business review in direct support of VP Finance
  • Ensure consistency between commercial dashboard data and financial data used for management reporting

 

Support to Finance, Sales and Business teams

  • Support Finance, Sales and Business teams in using and interpreting the Commercial Dashboard.
  • Help users understand KPIs, calculation rules, data limitations and performance variances.
  • Collect user feedback and translate it into functional improvement priorities.
  • Promote the use of the dashboard across monthly reviews, business reviews and performance discussions.
  • Act as the link between Finance, Sales, Business and Data / BI teams on commercial analytics topics

 

Other Ad-hoc tasks including for APAC/MEA regions

  • As right hand of VP Commercial Finance and APAC / MEA regions, provide the necessary supports in Ad-hoc tasks

Candidate experience and competencies

 

  • 7–8 years minimum in Corporate Finance, FP&A, Commercial Finance.
  • Experience in an international and multi-country environment is required.
  • Exposure to BI or dashboarding projects as a functional referent or advanced user is a strong plus.
  • Solid understanding of commercial performance drivers, including revenue, pricing, mix effects. Customer segmentation and product segmentation.
  • Able to assess performance by customer, country, segment, offer or initiative, and formulate actionable recommendations.
  • Proficient in Power BI as a functional owner or advanced user.
  • Comfortable with data models, KPI logic and data quality topics.
  • Advanced Excel skills. Knowledge of HFM or an equivalent consolidation tool is a plus.
  • Autonomous, reliable and able to operate with limited supervision.
  • Strong synthesis and communication skills. Able to challenge constructively.
  • Comfortable working with senior stakeholders in a matrix organization.
  • Team spirit and ability to work in a multicultural environment.
  • Business-oriented mindset, with the ability to connect financial numbers with operational drivers.
  • Master’s degree in Finance, Controlling, Accounting, Business Administration or equivalent.
  • Fluent English, both written and spoken. French is a plus.
